
(I only mention this because I always forget and it always hits me so hard. Review 'A satire of the science-industrial complex, the Newsflesh trilogy is a wry and entertaining exploration of the way political corruption never stops - even after the zombie apocalypse. If you like virology-based zombies or just zombies in general, if you had LJ back in the day or you're trying to bring blogging back, if reading about an outbreak will help you channel your outbreak-fixated anxiety into something less self-damaging (yo right here), this is a story worth getting into. BLACKOUT is the conclusion to the epic trilogy that began in the Hugo-nominated FEED and the sequel, DEADLINE. Ten years later and it still holds up as an alternate world history where blogging never died. Mira Grant went hard on the virology angle and I was impressed with the level of scientific knowledge she was able to bring to the page. At the time, zombies were the new horror hotness, everyone was jumping on that undead bandwagon and the now-standard infection tropes were still being fleshed out.

This edition is new, with the whole trilogy packaged in one big 1000+ page chonker of a book but the story premiered with Feed in 2010. Sometimes if you're scared of sharks, you read about sharks, and there's a pandemic going on out there right now so I decided it was time to revisit the world of The Rising.
